Luminus is a Belgian energy provider offering electricity, natural gas and electric vehicle charging solutions. It serves households, self-employed customers and businesses that want to manage their energy needs through one provider. Besides energy contracts, Luminus also offers charging services, including a charge card for access to public charging points. What makes Luminus distinctive is that it is active in Belgium in both energy supply and power generation. Luminus is therefore suitable for customers who want standard energy services combined with digital account management and EV charging options.

An energy rate card summarises the most important information about an energy contract, such as the type of contract (fixed, variable or dynamic), the price per kWh, the fixed fee, any indexation formulas, duration and termination conditions. No, Luminus MaxxFix is a fixed tariff, i.e. the consumption price per kWh you subscribe to now, that is the price you will pay for your consumption throughout the term of your contract. The price does not increase and will not decrease. You can find all the price information and indexation formula in the tariffsffiches.
If you have solar panels (or other generators), and you have generated a surplus of energy, you will receive a feed-in compensation from supplier Luminus for this. Better, however, is that you also use all the generated energy yourself, so that you yourself take less from the energy grid. Because even though you get a small fee for generated power, the price you get (c€5.23 /kWh) is much smaller than the power you buy (c€22.12 /kWh), and you also pay grid costs, taxes, excise duties, you name it.
When you switch suppliers, your new supplier Luminus takes care of everything. They will contact both your local grid operator and your previous energy supplier. Your switch usually follows 30 days after your request, but you can also choose a switch date yourself up to 6 months in the future. If you have requested a new connection or move, Luminus also takes care of everything, and then everything can be set up even faster.
Consumers are always entitled to a free cancellation period of 2 weeks after application. For this, you need to contact your new supplier yourself, or contact your current supplier and ask them to stop the switch. Business users are not entitled to 2 weeks' notice.
No, consumers in Belgium are still allowed to switch suppliers for free, and without giving any reason. You are not bound to a fixed contract duration. However, sometimes early termination means you lose your welcome discounts. We therefore advise you to remain a customer for at least one year before requesting an energy switch.
When the original contract term of 1 or 2 years is about to expire, Luminus will notify you. In this, they will offer you a new contract proposal with the same or similar tariff plan. This is the moment you should definitely come and compare your energy contract again on DareToCompare.be.
